Be A Part of Our Next Anthology

If you follow us on social media, then you must know that we are gearing up for our next anthology. Once again, we are partnering with Inked In Gray Press to publish the anthology. If you are a woman of color writer that’s a part of our Discord community, then you already know all there is to know about this second anthology, but if not, here’s the rundown!

The Details

As always, this is a paid opportunity, the author will get $45 plus a paperback copy of the anthology. (We think all artists deserve to be paid for their work!) This anthology will focus on flower language. What does a particular flower mean in your culture? Please, we would love to dive in!

  • Genre: Fantasy
  • Word Count Max: 8,000 (While there is no word count minimum, don’t send a half-baked story, please.)
  • No graphic nudity or violence. Keep it TV PG-13
  • Include all content warnings at the beginning of your story.
  • All women of color can submit. That means regardless of age or location, because everyone’s story matters!

Submissions close September 30th at midnight Eastern. That means you have a little under two months left to submit your story and share it with a friend! Once you’re ready to submit, or to find out more details, go here.

Support us on Ko-Fi and you’ll get all the ins and outs of how to make sure that your story is set apart from the rest! And don’t be afraid to ask questions, whether by contacting us here on the website or on our socials!

Now, I do want to say that we have had some pushback against opening our calls for submission to only women of color, but here is the thing: we are a nonprofit whose target audience is women of color. Women of color are a double minority from the start, and often more for reasons of ability or religion or sexuality. Women of color are pushed to the sidelines in so many areas, they deserve to be heard. It is our hope that by highlighting these stories, we spark more. We hope to encourage creativity and a sense of belonging to women of color. And if that bothers you, then that’s not our problem!
