The world is going crazy and it feels like everything that makes us human (art, music, self-expression) is being burned at the stake or cast aside as we watch. We get it and yet, we here at the Circle believe that this is all the more reason to keep creating, keep reading, keep imagining. We don’t look at it as escapism or a loss of hope…we see it as a way to remind us of who we are, human.
Right now, our stories matter more than ever. Your stories matter more than ever. So we challenge you to not give into the fatalism and to go out and keep doing what you enjoy because that is what truly makes you you. You are different from us, we are different from you, even if you were born a sextuplet, none of your siblings are you. Art and expression help shape our identities so when times get rough we should not give up on that, please don’t give up on that.
Here’s a prompt for you, take some time to look out your window. What do you see? Use that beautiful imagination and craft a story, a poem, a new piece of art based on what you see or how you feel when you gaze out of your window right now in this moment.

And if you are able, we also ask that you would donate and share our winter campaign. We hope to continue raising funds so that we can donate books by diverse voices, raise awareness, continue publishing stories by women of color, and much more as the years go on.
