What We Do & Hope To Do:

It makes sense that you may be curious about us, our goals and our mission. Feel free to read more here and send us any questions via our Contact page.

Current Initiatives:

  • Providing a safe space for women of color. As our Circle is only for women of color, their is no need to mask or perform. Furthermore, the rules of our organization help protect against bullying and harmful comments.
  • Offering opportunities to improve craft. This includes monthly write-ins, access to resources and a calendar listing opportunities within the writing community.
  • Mental health check ins. Living as a woman of color can be a toll and we want all of our members to feel seen and heard.
  • Hang out time. In line with our purpose of building community, it is important that we offer lighthearted moments as well. This includes regular chats, virtual movie nights and more.

Future Initiatives:

  • A virtual conference centering women of color in all avenues of the publishing industry including editors, agents, marketing professionals and authors as well as a pitch event specifically for women of color who are often marginalized in the publishing industry.
  • A literary journal featuring voices by women of color. The journal will include fiction, nonfiction, poetry and visual art.

How We Hope To Accomplish These Goals

We have some remarkable women in our Circle and enjoy the community that we have established as well as the allies that have shown their support. Our board members handle all of the work behind the organization, including planning these initiatives and sharing them with the community.

As a nonprofit organization, the WOC Writers’ Circle relies on donor support in order to keep us up and running as we never wish to place an undue burden on those seeking community and guidance as they hone their craft.

If you would like to support any of our initiatives, please consider donating via our Ko-Fi or Bookshop. Thank you.
