What is Bookshop.org?
Well, you may be wondering what Bookshop.org is. Basically, it is an online bookstore that helps support small bookstores and businesses. A lot of them are doing their best to stay afloat while competing with stores such as Barnes & Noble, BAM and Amazon. Many of these businesses are BIPOC owned as well. When a person buys a book via Bookshop.org, the money from the sale is then given to the bookstore that the book was posted on. Sometimes, only a small percentage but every cent helps! To find out more about bookshop, check out the main site here.
Why Do We Have One?
In order to better support the Circle, we decided to fundraise in a way that still allows for the members (and others who donate) to get something out of it. We get a small stipend and you get a book!
In the coming months, we will be adding more lists such as: Favorites, Books By Black Authors, Books By Asian Authors, Books By Latinx Authors, Books By Caribbean Authors, etc. If you have a book list suggestion or a title you want to add to this list, just type it below in the comments or email us at womenofcolorwriterscircle@gmail.com.
Check Out Our Growing Bookshop Page!
And if you are a Circle member and want to add a book, just email us the ISBN-13 and watch your books pop up!
How Can I Support?
By buying some of the books we have, especially the books by our very own members! Not only do the authors receive their normal royalties but the Writers’ Circle will also make a small stipend, allowing us to continue with our plans (i.e. publishing a journal and paying for Zoom membership). It is a nice way to help out! And we could really use your support. Besides, you probably could add a few more books to your shelf anyway, haha. So, grab a book and share it on your socials, tagging us with either @wocwritingcircle or @wocwriterscircle!
Thank you!
